A magic song: AMAZING GRACE. Verses by the Englishman JOHN NEWTON, music composed by the American WILLIAM WALKER. I show you videoclips with ELVIS PRESLEY, LEANN RIMES, CHARLOTTE CHURCH and HAYLEY WESTENRA. Also, I show you cool First Day Covers (FDCs) with ELVIS PRESLEY

""Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn with words written by English poet and clergyman John Newton (1725–1807), published in 1779. With a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of the sins people commit and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God, "Amazing Grace" is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.

Newton wrote the words from personal experience. He grew up without any particular religious conviction but his life's path was formed by a variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by his recalcitrant insubordination. He was pressed into the Royal Navy and became a sailor, eventually participating in the slave trade. One night a terrible storm battered his vessel so severely that he became frightened enough to call out to God for mercy, a moment that marked the beginning of his spiritual conversion. His career in slave trading lasted a few years more until he quit going to sea altogether and began studying theology."

"Author Gilbert Chase writes that "Amazing Grace" is "without a doubt the most famous of all the folk hymns",[1] and Jonathan Aitken, a Newton biographer, estimates that it is performed about 10 million times annually.[2]
It has had particular influence in folk music, and become an emblematic African American spiritual. Its universal message has been a significant factor in its crossover into secular music. "Amazing Grace" saw a resurgence in popularity in the U.S. during the 1960s and has been recorded thousands of times during and since the 20th century, sometimes appearing on popular music charts."

"Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believ'd!

Thro' many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis'd good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.

Let's see some interpretations:

Halloween is approaching....owl...Frankenstein...color orange...and kumquats, too?

Cut-out from an index card, with an owl stamp and pictorial postmark from FRANKENSTEIN, MO  65016

The kumquats look like oranges, and the main subject of the stamp (Year of the Hare) is  belittled [!] as a small  drawing of a hare, barely visible, on the left side of the stamp. Pictorial postmark from Los Angeles, CA 90012, perfectly visible on the matte, folded card  - which  I can postcardize anytime, should I want.

Pictorial postmark from West Nyack, NY 10994, perfectly visible on the matte, folded card  - which  I can postcardize anytime, should I want. I never heard of West Nyack before - have you? See how a simple, nice postmark can "put a locality on the map" for you, and many others?

Send Facebook Photos as Pretty Postcards With Postagram for iPhone & Android:

"Postagram, the app for sending Instagram photos as printed postcards, is out with version 2.0 of its iPhone application and is releasing an Android application Thursday.
The service has expanded to support printing high-quality glossy photos from your device’s camera roll or your Facebook library. The enhancements eliminate the need for an Instagram account and make the application accessible to anyone on iPhone or Android.
Application users need only fire up Postagram 2.0 for iPhone or Postagram for Android, and connect to Facebook or Instagram (on iPhone only) to find and select photos sorted by type. Also new is the ability to send Postagrams to multiple recipients.
As usual, individual Postagrams cost $0.99 and are shipped with a glossy photo printed at 300-dpi that pops out of the accompanying bezel.
Postagram is a product of Sincerely, a startup co-founded by Matt Brezina and Bryan Kennedy, both formerly of Xobni. Sincerely’s intent is to make it simple for mobile phone users to send real, printed photos using the snapshots on their device."

Print and Ship Postcards From Your Favorite iOS Apps

Print and Ship Postcards From Your Favorite iOS Apps:

"“The printed photo [is] the world’s simplest but most ubiquitously appreciated gift,” Sincerely CEO and cofounder Matt Brezina says."

"More than a dozen launch partners will feature Sincerely’s print and ship technology in their iPhone apps, starting Thursday. Partners include Lonely Planet, Path, Pic Collage, Waddle, Quiption, Picsicle, Filtermania, Ship Mate, Interlacer, Pregnancy Progress, I’m Awesome and Color Effects.

At launch, Sincerely will continue to hand select app partners and evaluate interested parties on a case-by-case basis, Brezina says. The startup has already fielded inquiries from more than 200 developers, he adds.
App makers will earn 70% of revenue earned from the sale of each postcard above $0.99. Sincerely prices its postcards at $0.99 a pop, a fee that includes printing and shipping costs to anywhere in the world. App makers can keep the $0.99 price point in tact or price postcards higher to make a profit on sales through their apps.
Coincidentally, Sincerely’s SDK release comes just two days after Apple announced that it would enter the greeting card business with Cards, an iPhone application for creating, printing and sending greeting cards.
Brezina sees the Cards app as a competitor, but does not view it as a substantial threat to Sincerely’s business. In part because, he asserts, gifting is not Apple’s core business focus."
“We believe very strongly that a printed photo is this gift that every person on the street would appreciate,” Brezina says."

"Dorincard: Blogger Dorin C is a stamp and postcard fanatic, and luckily he's more than pleased to write prolifically and charmingly about his obsession. He has a particular bent for stamps with wild mammals on them, but his blog demonstrates an affinity for stamps of all forms and backgrounds, as long as they offer a special narrative that's worth sharing with his readers.
