This older Year of the Rabbit maxicard/ maximum card/ dorincard properly depicts a goddamn [ :) ] rabbit as the main graphic element of the stamp - as it should!
Now it's Year of the Rabbit, not Year of the Kumquats [the fruits depicted as the main (!!!) graphic element on the 2011 USPS stamp for YOTR, courtesy of the "vision" of the stamp illustrator Kam Mak]
I strongly believe that you could put any secondary symbol (narcissus, kumquats, General Tso chicken with rice - whatever) of the Chinese Lunar Year celebration in the BACKGROUND.
But put the image of the zodiac animal in the FOREGROUND - that's the main symbol!

I quite agree. I was able to overlook last year's daffodils b/c they were pretty, and on a bright red (lucky) background. But this year - ugh.

I sense that you have some anger issues, which may be related to kumquats or General Tso's chicken. I also understand your frustration with the USPS. Although it may be difficult for them to stay in the black, they also miss out on some really good opportunities to create extra revenue. And, off on a tangent, the decision to make all of the future stamps "forever" stamps is just plain foolish. Anyway, I hope you wrote them a letter - or an email :)
Nicer if the US stamp was more like your card. What were they thinking, kumquats, what is that about.
I agree, It seems silly to have fruit as the main part of the stamp. Nice to see how it should be.
