maximaphily = collecting maximum cards (postcard + stamp + postmark)

Maximaphily

Maximaphily is a branch of philately, or stamp collecting, that means collecting maximum cards.
Generally, a maximum card is a postcard, with a stamp and a postmark on the picture side. Ideally, all these 3 elements should be concordant, but not identical.
The traditional way is to comply with the rules of FIP (International Philatelic Federation).
http://www.maximaphily.info
The non-traditional way, as I call it, is to follow nobody's rules! Unless YOU want it, of course.
I call DORINCARD any postcard that was personalized by adding a stamp and a postmark, on the picture side of the postcard. Traditional way, or not. :)

maximaphily = insamel maksimum kaarte (poskaart + stempel + poststempel)Maximaphily

Tradisionele manier, of nie. :)

Amur leopard/panther (Panthera pardus orientalis) maximum card that I created with a partner/friend from PR China

They say this subspecies is the most beautiful feline in the world. The number of breeding female Amur LEOPARDS left in the wild could be counted by the remaining fingers on the hands of some poor LEPER - only about 6.

"MOSCOW (Reuters) - Hunters in Russia's Far East have shot and killed one of the last seven surviving female Amur leopards living in the wild, WWF said on Monday, driving the species even closer to extinction."

Puma/Cougar/Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) maximum card #3 that I created with Canada Post

The stamp is a joint issue of Canada and the state commonly known as China: see People's Republic of ChinaZhōnghuá Rénmín Gònghéguó

For the state commonly known as Taiwan, see Republic of ChinaZhōnghuá Mínguó. In sports, you'll see them as Chinese Taipei. Why? Because... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Taipei

I have sent several different puma postcards to Canada Post and they applied their First Day of Issue pictorial postmark (see the Canadian and the Chinese flag).

This puma is coming right at you...I love the dynamism of this image -> a postcard that I bought here, in USA. What if this was an image cut out from a book, magazine, calendar, etc.?
It would have bothered FIP (http://www.maximaphily.info), but not me. How about you? :)

Maximum cards from India: Bengal tigers - standard, and white.

These maximum cards were created for me, at my request, by a friend from India.
The pictorial postmark represents a deity, but it's not visible on the background of the picture postcards.
You can see the postmark only on the postal postcard pre-stamped with a white tiger stamp.
I wish he had used a white tiger stamp from India on the white tiger picture postcard, to be concordant.
Attention, Indian partners and friends: I am looking for a maximum card that you can create for me with the white tiger commemorative Indian stamp (the bigger one, and multi-color),
Snow Leopard 2v
not with the definitive stamp (smaller, bi-color).

Maximum cards from China, with the 80 fen stamp from 2004: South China tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis)

Maximum card from China: Siberian (not South China) tiger (Panthera tigris altaica)

Siberian (not South China) tigers maximum cards from China.
I like very much these maximum cards,
especially the bottom one :) .
It just so happens that each of them was created with a real, commercial postcard.
Would it bother me if this "postcard" were, instead, a cut-out from a folded postcard ("greeting
card"), book, magazine, or calendar?
No. Not at all.

Whether a maximum card is FIP-compliant or not, I still call it a Dorincard. This is another one that's NOT.

No,  it's not a striped hippopotamus - just a VERY pregnant tigress (I guess). OCTO-tigress?

An inconvenient truth? Mohan...in-breeding?...incest?

Again, I invite you to tell me WHY this is not FIP-compliant.
In a related story, I could tell you WHY I don't care, in this case.
Should you jump on me for calling this "a maximum card", I could instantly tell you "it's a Dorincard", a term that includes all the FIP-compliant maximum cards, and then some.
:)
BTW, this is just a temporary juxtaposition of those elements; I didn't affix/apply them yet.
Just a demo/comp/project/study/idea.

Virtual maximum card / carte maximum / maximumkarte : Stripeless, Snow White Tiger

Akbar Kabul, a Snow White tiger at The Mirage, in a time when the Siegfried & Roy show was dwarfing all the other Vegas shows. Beasts, but not of burden.
Not for every spectator/tourist: some were more into watching a Bad, Bad Queen of the Las Vegas...strip (I mean Strip, boulevard) or into biting from the forbidden fruit (apple).
Aye, ho!...aye, ho...not you, Bambi!
Thus, some of those tourists volunteered for their own Cirque de la Nuit.
Les Misérables...or, if you want to excuse somebody's French: Ley Mizerabb!...desperate for a FEMfatal to happen in Vegas, and stay in Vegas. A hard twist on French, as if Brett FaRVe is driving a DISLEXUS...
If not, there's always gambling (gaming is the official term) and boozing. Both around the clock.
Anagram: SLOT MACHINES = CASH LOST IN ME or CASH LOST IN 'EM.
Keyword: Mirage. A Wynn-Win situation. Steve Wynn - his mind has a far better vision than his eyes.

Tigers - Zazzle personalized stamps: comparison of 6 different designs

Comparison of 6 different Zazzle stamps with tigers of 4 color varieties (striped white, stripeless white, golden tabby and regular). I have designed and already bought 6 different sheets of 20 identical (designwise) stamps. But each individual stamp is uniquely encoded in the IBI (information-based indicia)- the black and white little squares.
I (temporarily) applied these six stamps onto a transparency sheet. Besides this group scan, I will use them, after cutting the stamps onto individual transparency rectangles, for maximum cards projects, demos, comps, experiments.

Maximum cards: cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)

Let's compare several maximaphily creations - maximum cards with cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus).

Virtual maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard (I only superimposed the paper fragment onto the postcard, without glueing it yet) from South Africa. I like this because it shows the essence of cheetah - the fastest mammal.

Usain Bolt, from the sunny Jamaica, is already a legendary champion athlete, but he would be left in the dust - way, way behind...:)
By running 100m in 9.58s, Usain reached an average speed of 37.58kph.
By running 200m in 19.19s, Usain reached an average speed of 37.52kph.
The fastest cheetah on record was clocked in Kenya for 103kph over 201m.
On average, that cheetah officially ran 100m in 3.495 seconds. Ye, man!

The South Africa stamp shows a cheetah, kinda running, but only half-hearted, half-assed. Or maybe it's at the beginning or at the end of a run. The postmark, from Nasionale Krugerwildtuin (Kruger National Park), shows it at full speed!

Maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard from the ex-bantustan of Venda. I love that the postcard is matte, not glossy, so the matching pictorial postmark is perfectly visible, even embossed a little.

Maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard from the ex-bantustan of Bophutatswana (not Botswana! :) ). Again, matte postcard, clean postmark - very nice maximum card! The stamp also shows a lil' bit of the cheetah's natural habitat in Africa. The safari motorists are becoming part of the landscape...

Top 30 Stamp Collecting Blogs, by guidetoartschools.com

#2:
"Dorincard: Blogger Dorin C is a stamp and postcard fanatic, and luckily he's more than pleased to write prolifically and charmingly about his obsession. He has a particular bent for stamps with wild mammals on them, but his blog demonstrates an affinity for stamps of all forms and backgrounds, as long as they offer a special narrative that's worth sharing with his readers.
