Maximum card from Transkei - the black-footed cat (Felis nigripes)

Small feline, but quite fierce in self-defense.

Cape Eagle-Owl (Bubo capensis) - "UNICATE" maximum card created for me by my friend F., from South Africa

My friend F. went personally to a post office in Krugersdorp, South Africa, and obtained the postmark for this, and for other UNIKAT maximum cards (without duplicates) that she created at my request, for me.
 Thank you, again! :)
===========================
By the way, what do you understand if I say "This maximum card is UNIQUE?"
Well, it may mean different things, to different people.
It may mean that it has an unusual, original design - but how many copies have been manufactured from this design? Several?
It may mean that this specific configuration stamp+postmark+postcard was created by only one collector, but  she may have obtained 100 "duplicates", "copies", all identical.
What I wanted to say is that THERE IS NO COPY of it - only one specimen of this maximum card.
So, why don't I invent a word in the English language, that is a noun (not an adjective): UNICATE.
It means that there's only 1 (one) in the whole world.
No DUPLICATE, no TRIPLICATE, etc.
This maximum card is a UNICATE.
There is already such a noun in German: UNIKAT.
From there, it was adopted in Romanian: UNICAT.
So, why not in English, too: UNICATE, to rhyme with DUPLICATE and TRIPLICATE.
:)

Not a stripper, not a pole dancer, not a "Cat" on the catwalk, not "The 400-pounds Zorilla" - The Striped Polecat (Ictonyx striatus, also called the African Polecat, Zoril, Zorille or Zorilla)

It stinks worse than some politicians' hidden agenda. Certain exceptions apply.

"The Striped Polecat (Ictonyx striatus, also called the African PolecatZorilZorille or Zorilla) is a member of the Mustelidae family (weasels) which somewhat resembles a skunk. It is found in savannahs and open country in southern and west Africa."

Maximum card from Bophuthatswana, ex-bantustan, now part of the Republic of South Africa.

If a bantustan was able to have such nice pictorial postmarks, why can't ALL the "First World" postal administrations?

Notice the triple concordance: stamp, postcard, pictorial postmark. :)

Now, let's verify concordance from the standpoint of the FIP Commission for Maximaphily.
http://maximaphily.info/Articles/Regulations/MXLY%20regulations%20approved%20in%20Malaga%20conference.%20English%20version.pdf

"• The concordance of subject is the essential characteristic of a real maximum
card. This concordance between the illustration of the postage stamp and the one of the
picture postcard must be as close as possible and visually verifiable."
We already established that the subject is present here even on the pictorial postmark, right?

"• The concordance of place requires a connection between the name of the place or
the locality written in the postmark and the subject of the postage stamp and of the postcard.
The "first day cancellation" can only be used when it is in accordance with the above-mentioned condition."
Now, what about the place of postmarking? Is Mogwase good enough?
I don't know. Do you? How the hell should I know? :)
"Mogwase is a rapidly developing town located close to Sun City.
Attractions
Tourist attractions include Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park."
Well, that's good enough for me - close to a national park. Or you want me to find a post office right near a zorilla?

• "The concordance of time is defined by the date of the postmark, within the period

of validity of the postage stamp."
This zorilla stamp should be valid, for all I know (and for all I care).
After all, this is an official maximum card, issued by the Postal Administration.

Happy Fathers' Day!

In an African reservation for orphaned elephants, the young (<21 yrs old) males grew aggressive, even killing rhinoceros at the waterhole.
Until two much older, senior, still strong, male elephants have been brought there, on purpose.
Aggressivity stopped. Do you wonder why?

maximaphily = insamel maksimum kaarte (poskaart + stempel + poststempel)Maximaphily

Tradisionele manier, of nie. :)

maximaphily = collecting maximum cards (postcard + stamp + postmark)
Maximaphily

Maximaphily is a branch of philately, or stamp collecting, that means collecting maximum cards.
Generally, a maximum card is a postcard, with a stamp and a postmark on the picture side. Ideally, all these 3 elements should be concordant, but not identical.
The traditional way is to comply with the rules of FIP (International Philatelic Federation).
http://www.maximaphily.info
The non-traditional way, as I call it, is to follow nobody's rules! Unless YOU want it, of course.
I call DORINCARD any postcard that was personalized by adding a stamp and a postmark, on the picture side of the postcard. Traditional way, or not. :)

Waarom nie passief versamel net iemand anders se skeppings? Omdat dit frustrerend is. Hoekom 'n persoonlike stempel? Omdat JY KAN.

Ek praat hier oor wat jy, as 'n individu. Hier is my oplossing, steeds binne die VSA-regulasies, sover ek weet.

As ek wil pictorialize poststempel my, ek sal die toepassing van sommige stempel REG LANGS my poststempel, sonder oorvleueling (net vrede kom USPS).

Hier is my standaard profiel / bio / info, posted in verskeie forums van filatelie (stempel versamel), deltiology (poskaart versamel), marcophily (poststempel versamel), scrapbooking, 'n collage, decoupage, montage, mailart, artistamps, ens
Hello, potensiaal filatelistische vennote en vriende!

My naam is Dorin en ek is 'n manlike; Doreen is vir vroue, OK?

Hoeveel is versamelaar-geskape? Daarbenewens is hoeveel maksimum kaarte seëls persoonlike hê?

- My eie persoonlike tempel, uit verskeie lande

Maximum cards: cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)

Let's compare several maximaphily creations - maximum cards with cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus).

Virtual maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard (I only superimposed the paper fragment onto the postcard, without glueing it yet) from South Africa. I like this because it shows the essence of cheetah - the fastest mammal.

Usain Bolt, from the sunny Jamaica, is already a legendary champion athlete, but he would be left in the dust - way, way behind...:)
By running 100m in 9.58s, Usain reached an average speed of 37.58kph.
By running 200m in 19.19s, Usain reached an average speed of 37.52kph.
The fastest cheetah on record was clocked in Kenya for 103kph over 201m.
On average, that cheetah officially ran 100m in 3.495 seconds. Ye, man!

The South Africa stamp shows a cheetah, kinda running, but only half-hearted, half-assed. Or maybe it's at the beginning or at the end of a run. The postmark, from Nasionale Krugerwildtuin (Kruger National Park), shows it at full speed!

Maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard from the ex-bantustan of Venda. I love that the postcard is matte, not glossy, so the matching pictorial postmark is perfectly visible, even embossed a little.

Maximum card/maxicard/maxi card/dorincard from the ex-bantustan of Bophutatswana (not Botswana! :) ). Again, matte postcard, clean postmark - very nice maximum card! The stamp also shows a lil' bit of the cheetah's natural habitat in Africa. The safari motorists are becoming part of the landscape...

Maximum card (South Africa): primitive man (Paranthropus robustus)

Chew on this.
"Paranthropus robustus was originally discovered in Southern Africa in 1938. The development of P. robustus, namely in cranial features, seemed to be aimed in the direction of a "heavy-chewing complex". Because of the definitive traits that are associated with this robust line of australopithecine, anthropologist Robert Broom erected the genus Paranthropus and placed this species into it.
Paranthropus robustus (considered for a time by the scientific community as Australopithecus robustus) is generally dated to have lived between 2.0 and 1.2 million years ago. P. robustus had large sagittal crests, jaws, jaw muscles, and post-canine teeth that were adapted to serve in the dry environment that they lived in." (wikipedia.org)

Maximum card: Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), from my friend F., in South Africa

This is a powerful animal, and a herd could easily cooperate to defend against predators, but...they just don't cooperate, usually.
