Etymology and naming
The two Color phases were once thought to represent two distinct species; the grey one called jaguarundi /ˌʒæɡwəˈrʌndi/ zhag-wə-run-dee,[4] and the red one called eyra. In some Spanish speaking countries, the jaguarundi is also called leoncillo, which means little lion. Other Spanish common names for the jaguarundi include: "gato colorado", "gato moro", "león brenero", "onza", and "tigrillo".[5]
Description
In terms of physical appearance, the jaguarundi is perhaps the least cat-like of all the cats. It has a total length of 53 to 77 cm (21 to 30 in), not including the 31 to 60 cm (12 to 24 in) tail, and weighs 3.5 to 9.1 kg (7.7 to 20 lb).[6][7][8]
It has short legs, an elongated body and a long tail, giving it an appearance somewhat like an otter or marten. For this reason, these animals are sometimes referred to as "otter cats." The ears are short and rounded. The coat is unspotted and uniform in color, with, at most, a few faint markings on the face and underside. The coat can be either blackish to brownish grey (grey phase) or foxy red to chestnut (red phase); individuals of both phases can be born in the same litter."

"A Heart(y) Scare !!!
As you know, for the past couple of weeks I have not been feeling well ... I had a horrible burning pain between my shoulder blades and into my chest, and was diagnosed with acid reflux. It was a pain that was deep and burning, and came on mostly while I was walking or exercising. I changed my diet, and seemed to be getting better ...
This past Saturday, about an hour after I woke up, I had another "episode" of extreme debilitating pain - and it would not let up. The pain spread to my left arm and underneath my jaw. I knew it was time to go to the Emergency Room.
To make a long story short, I did NOT have acid reflux --
I had a significant blockage in two of the vessels of my heart.
Yesterday I had an angiogram, and a stent was inserted into the blocked area - a very successful procedure!!!
I am back home now, a little ragged around the edges, with a bunch of new medications to take.
It has been a very humbling and learning experience.
There were scary moments and times that made me laugh til I nearly split my stitches.
I urge each person who reads this to take a second look at your HEART life ... your health decisions ... those little things that may or may not "mean something" to your health ... don't overlook anything! Because if something seems wrong ... it's worth checking out. Please.
Because I love all of YOU - my heart seeking friends and family!
And I want you all to be HEART HEALTHY!

Ah Dorin! I learn something new every time I see one of your posts. And yes, I saw the LEAF heart right away!
My beloved pet cat, who really is lazy and, um, fluffy (okay she's obese but she's sitting in front of my keyboard and I can't piss off the Queen you know) ... is probably better off not knowing a jaguarundi. Even if they are nearly the same color!
