"The meerkat or suricate, Suricata suricatta, is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a "mob", "gang" or "clan". A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. Meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years."
This ain't no pet cat, unless you want a STINKING pet cat.
"Meerkats make very poor pets.
They bite, and the bite can become infected.
They stink, and will scent-mark their owner and the house (their "territory").
Being a pack animal, they may become hysterical if kept as single pets"
Learn about VIGILANCE from SURICATE, and about VIGILANTE attitude from GRIZZLY BEAR (who attacks anybody "guilty" of trespassing/crossing his path/upsetting him).
"Meerkats demonstrate altruistic behavior within their colonies; one or more meerkats stand sentry while others are foraging or playing, to warn them of approaching dangers.
When a predator is spotted, the meerkat performing as sentry gives a warning bark, and other members of the gang will run and hide in one of the many bolt holes they have spread across their territory."
SURICATES are like HUMANS, in some ways...
"Evicted females and roving males"...
"Despite this altruistic behaviour, meerkats sometimes kill young members of their group.
Subordinate meerkats have been seen killing the offspring of more senior members in order to improve their own offspring's position.[6]
Meerkats have been known to engage in social activities, including what appear to be
wrestling matches and foot races."
"members of the group may choose different holes." [?]
"A new meerkat group often arises from evicted females meeting and staying with roving males,
seeking to mate."
In the SURICATE maxicard above, can YOU spot a heart shape, anywhere?

-see how hard it is to find a true heart, in today's world?

I can FETCH you a heart shape, with a horizontal black stripe, on the SURICATE to the FAR right, between its belly-button and its genitals, I guess.
Yes, you may say that this heart shape is FAR-FETCHED...:)

Hah! I see the heart!!! And you missed two more! The meerkat on the stamp also has a heart shaped face, and his left eye pattern is a heart too!!! So I guess it's not quite so hard as you thought to find a true heart in today's world!
I saw a movie about meerkats once - it was very interesting and informative, if a bit fanciful. I've loved the little critters since then, but not enough to want one as a pet.
I LOVE meerkats... not that I want one for a pet... my dog would have fits!!! Great heart find!!!!
