Four species of FISH on WWF MAXICARDS from the "Land of 365 Beaches": ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Upper-left:
Porcupinefish have the ability to inflate their body by swallowing water or air, thereby becoming rounder. This increase in size (almost double vertically) reduces the range of potential predators to those with much bigger mouths. A second defense mechanism is provided by the sharp spines, which radiate outwards when the fish is inflated. Some species are poisonous, having a tetrodotoxin in their internal organs, such as the ovaries and liver. This neurotoxin is at least 1200 times more potent than cyanide. "
Beware of toxic entities.

Upper-right:
"The French AngelfishPomacanthus paru, is a large angelfish of the family Pomacanthidae, found in the western Atlantic from Florida and the Bahamas to Brazil, and also the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, including the Antilles, and the eastern Atlantic from around Ascension Island and St. Paul's Rocks, at depths of between 2 and 100 m. Length is up to 41 cm."
When God gave name to this fish, he wanted French with that.

Lower-left:
"The Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus) is one of the large number of Perciform fish in the family Serranidae that are commonly referred to as groupers. It is the most important of the groupers for commercial fishery in the West Indies but has been endangered by overfishing."
[No, it's not Princeton-related]

Lower-right:
"The PorkfishAnisotremus virginicus is a Grunt from the Western Atlantic. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 40.6cm in length."
Cooking such a fish is called grunt work.

"Antigua and Barbuda (Listeni/ænˈtɡə ænd bɑrˈbjuːdə/, local /ænˈtɡə ænd bɑrˈbjuːdə/;Spanish for "ancient" and "bearded") is a twin-island nation lying between the Caribbean Seaand the Atlantic Ocean. It consists of two major inhabited islands, Antigua and Barbuda, and a number of smaller islands (including Great Bird, Green, Guinea, Long, Maiden and York Islandsand further south, the island of Redonda). The permanent population number approximately 85,000 (2010) and the capital and largest port and city is St. John's, on Antigua.
Separated by a few nautical miles, Antigua and Barbuda are in the middle of the Leeward Islands, part of the Lesser Antilles, roughly at 17 degrees north of the Equator. The country is nicknamed "Land of 365 Beaches" due to the many beaches surrounding the islands. Its governance, language, and culture have all been strongly influenced by the British Empire, of which the country was formerly a part."

My cyberguests: thank you for taking time and mental energy to leave a comment!
Your ongoing feedback is always appreciated.
If you never return, it is my fault for boring (?) you.
If you return, it is your merit to have discovered a blog worth exploring and following. :)
